A Soup I Never Thought Could Taste Soooo Good.....
Asparagus soup was honestly a shot in the dark, but it worked and it was delicious!
I recently purchased The Flavor Bible by Andrew Dornenburg and Karen Page and it has been a game changer! To sum it up, this book is basically a database of ingredients and complimentary flavors. It has helped me grow so much as a home chef and I highly recommend it to anyone who loves to cook and create flavorful art.
That being said, I used this book as a guide while making my asparagus soup. I was going to basically make this soup how I make my cream of celery soup or my potato leek soup, but after reading the section on asparagus, my strategy changed. The outline was there; I just added the details.
What made my soup stand out was the use of a different acid (lime vs lemon), added spice that created comforting warmth, learning to use all parts (using the stems as stock instead of regular veggie broth), and slowly building flavor for added depth.
I hope you enjoy this recipe as much as I enjoyed creating it.
Love,
Alexis
